The West African Development Bank (BOAD) saw the West African Economic and Monetary Union (also known by its French acronym, UEMOA) add an additional 6 billion francs (FCFA) to the 14 billion FCFA already granted by the UEMOA, to finance the construction of mini solar power plants in Togo.

The electrification project covers 62 localities in the five regions of the country.

The loan agreement was signed by Christian Adovelande, President of the BOAD and Sani Yaya, Togolese Minister of Economy and Finance. The commitments of the BOAD in Togo to date amount to 70 billion FCFA.
