KenGen, Kenya’s power generating company plans to launch construction on its 140-MW steam power planT in Olkaria by mid-December. The launch of construction follows KenGen’s securing of funds from the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
KenGen was lent Sh40 billion by Japan for the Olkaria V project which involves putting up two geothermal power plants, each with a 70-MW power generating capacity.
Power from the project is expected to feEd into the national grid by the end of 2018.
