The tender to construct a 10-MW solar plant in Algeria has received bids from 34 international firms. The tender for the plant, which is to be located at Bir Rebaa North, was issued by Algerian state energy firm Sonatrach and Italy’s ENI.
Companies submitting bids for the plant at Bir Reba North included ENGIE Fabricom SA and JGC Corp., as well as joint bids from Consolidated Contractors Group with KPV Solar and Yingli Energy Co Ltd with China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (CNTIC).
The tender from Sonatrach and ENI is just the first tender expected as Algeria’s moves to meet its growing energy demands through the use of solar power.
The government is expected to launch a major project to build a 4,000-MW solar plant.
